Electrocardiogram

Comprehensive cardiology in pets is crucial. This simple diagnostic test can help to pinpoint heart abnormalities in your pet. We also use ECG during every surgery we perform.

CardioPET

Our Hospital is equipped with a CardioPET transmitter. This allows us to send your pets heart sounds over the telephone lines to a Board Certified Cardiologist. They can get back to us immediately about what they are hearing and advise us on how to proceed with some of the cases that really do need a specialist. Having this invaluable instrument allows us to get your pet a consult with a Cardiologist even though we are an ocean away. This enables our doctors to treat your pet with a more comprehensive picture of what is going on inside your pets heart.

Blood Pressure  Monitoring

Just like in humans animals can get high and low blood pressure and just like in humans this can have a negative effect on your pets health. All of our monitors are equipped with Non-invasive blood pressure monitors. Every patients blood pressure is monitored through out surgery even for minor procedures. During some procedures where they maybe concern with blood loss having a monitor on allows us to increase the patients fluid accordingly with just the touch of a button. This helps make the procedure safer for the pet and helps you breath a little easier.

Doppler

Keauhou Veterinary Hospital also has a separate Doppler blood pressure monitor for very small animals, this non-invasive blood pressure measuring device uses a small crystal and a pressure gage to monitor your pets blood pressure.

We also use ultrasound and radio-graphs to evaluate your pets heart, this allows the doctors to see the size, and shape of the heart as well as evaluating the blood flow through the heart and areas around it.

Keauhou Veterinary Hospital strives to provide the most comprehensive care available, with the equipment we have on-site at our hospital. This gives us the best possible chance for properly diagnosing your pets illness and treating it accordingly. It also allows us to keep your pets safe while they are under anesthesia during a more invasive procedure.
