Keauhou Veterinary Hospitals prescription refill policy asks that you allow 24 hours for your pets prescriptions to be refilled; this gives out staff and our doctors time to review your pets file and make sure they do not need to make any changes to their medication. Certain medication require blood testing and check ups at specific intervals in order for your pets to continue on the medication. Our staff will call you when your pets medication is ready for pick up. If you wish to have it called into a local pharmacy please make sure to specify which one.
Keauhou Veterinary Hospital will not fax a prescription to any on-line pharmacy, such as Fosters and Smith, PetMeds, or any other on-line service. Should you require a prescription for one of these companies we can write one for you. You will need to come in and pick it up from our office. Please be aware by using these services that you will be responsible for any and all charges associated with treatment should your pet become ill from them. The manufactures of the products you are purchasing on-line will not cover any cost nor will you be able to receive any damages should your pet become ill from these medications, as they were not dispensed by a licensed veterinarian. You will need to also be aware that many of these companies may not be licensed in your state and purchasing medications from them may carry additional consequences for you and your pet.
Any medication that is dispensed that has left the building regardless if it has been opened or not CAN NOT BE RETURNED. As all of our medications are FDA regulated we are subject to the same dispensing laws as human pharmacies. Please understand that Heartworm medications and dewormers fall under these same regulations and will not be dispensed if we have not seen your pet with in the last year. All pets must have a current Heartworm test on file with-in the last year for your pet to continue on their Heartworm medication.
As with all medications please follow the instructions carefully and make sure you finish the full course of medications as prescribed. Failure to do so may lead to prolonged illness and additional fees to treat your pets current condition.
